I'm Happy I Have Fears. And Here's Why.

Updated: May 6

Have you ever done an escape room? (If not, I highly recommend it!) One thing I love about escape rooms is the potential for possibility. You never know what is around the corner and the element of surprise makes the experience so fun! And that moment when you are completely stuck, but then suddenly uncover a key, or a riddle, or a puzzle...that is when a bunch of possibilities are unlocked to complete the game.

Have you ever thought about how your fears are the key to getting unstuck in your business? What if they are actually a good thing?

Let me give you an example.

About five years ago, I had a fear of scaling my business. I was too scared to let go, and didn't think I could trust anyone to delegate any of my work to. My name is literally on my business...what if my employee messes up and makes me look bad? Or worse, what if she or he goes completely crazy and destroys my business on purpose? (I do this cute little thing where I let my mind go to the worst case scenario, and then I tend to live there....I'm working through it!)

I was also in a complete rut. I was working from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed every single day. I was making money, and had no time to spend it. I was burnt out and miserable.

Then something hit me: my fears are the very reason I am stuck. You see, I didn't just have fears. I let my fears have me. But I realized that if I could leverage those fears to be the compass pointing me to breakthrough, then I will open up another door. And that's exactly what I did.

So I took out a notepad, listed all the fears holding me back, and I picked one to conquer (delegation). Then I put a job on Indeed and guess what? I hired an amazing person who helped make my business better. She didn't do irreversible damage to my business, quite the contrary, she taught me a ton and helped open my business to new possibilities.

I had successfully solved the puzzle that led me to my next adventure. And my fear was the clue to get me there.

Which of your fears might be the hint towards unlocking the entrance to your next quest? 🔑
